JFK Logistics Center Chooses Fabcon Precast Walls For Its Security and Protection From the Elements
Located in a populous area that is also close to the coast, the structure of JFK Logistics needed to offer security from all the elements, both human and weather-related.
Problem
The building that houses JFK Logistics is situated near the airport of the same name on New York’s Long Island. It’s accessible via major highways and is close to the coast, so security was top-of-mind along with protection from hurricanes, nor’easters, flooding, and tornadoes that the area experienced. What’s more, construction site access was tight and required careful coordination to minimize impact to the surrounding areas.
Solution
The project team chose 520 precast insulated VersaCore wall panels due to a few reasons. First, they can be installed quickly and minimize the number of trades needed on site. What’s more, they provide the security from all the elements as well as a significant life expectancy.
Results
The use of VersaCore were installed quickly, in just 49 days. and minimized the number of trades involved. What’s more, they were shipped with standard trucking, eliminating the complexities of shipping wider and taller panels and delivered directly to the site when they needed to be there, eliminating the need to store the panels on-site and occupy drop lots in a high-density urban area.
